The Phonics Kids series is designed for ESL children from 3 to 6 years old, aimed to help them start learning basic phonics successfully, step by step. This series includes 6 Student Books, with 6 Activity Books and 4 Mix-Match books as additional learning materials, which provide children with lots of fun while they learn the basic rules of phonics.
The first three Student Books—The Alphabet, The Consonants, and The Short Vowels—focus on building a complete foundation of phonics. The next three books—The Short Vowel Word Families and Consonant Blends, The Vowel Pairs and Consonant Digraphs, and The Long Vowels and More Vowel Pairs—extend children's knowledge of word families, and help them acquire an acute sense of language.
To make the process of learning to read easier and more enjoyable, the KRC Language program emphasizes constant reinforcement. The Activity Books offer exercises for children to review what is learned in the Student Books, allowing them to enforce their abilities on reading, listening, and writing through interesting activities. They also help teachers and parents understand children's learning progress. The Mix-Match Books allow children to find existing words through basic phonics all on their own. By playing with the combination of letters, blends, or word families, children will be able to learn new vocabulary through their own exciting discoveries.
Phonics Kids: Student Book 1
Book 1 introduces 26 English upper and lower case letters, accompanied by 52 basic related words. It consists of 26 units, in each of which one letter is covered, and followed by 3 to 4 exercises.
Phonics Kids: Student Book 2
The basic sounds of the 21 consonants are presented in Book 2. The book consists of 21 units, each unit covering each of the consonants followed by 3 exercises.
Phonics Kids: Student Book 3
The basic sounds of the 5 short vowels are found in Book 3, so children can actually start learning and practicing phonics. There are 5 units for each of the 5 short vowels, a, e, i, o, and u, all of which are followed by exercises.
Phonics Kids: Student Book 4
Book 4 introduces 33 sets of short vowel word families, and 16 sets of consonant blends, which help kids extend their spelling and pronunciation skills. This book consists of 8 units, each covering one short vowel word family or one set of consonant blends, followed by exercises.

Phonics Kids: Activity Book 1
Activity Book 1 helps children learn how to write letters through drawing lines. When they are able to draw a triangle, a circle, or even short lines, they are well on the way to writing their ABCs.
Phonics Kids: Activity Book 2
Activity Book 2 offers various practice with coloring, tracing and writing. While learning the sounds of the 21 consonants, children will make the important discovery that the 26 letters in the alphabet can form many words when they are put together, and thus the door to the wonderful world of reading is beginning to open for them.
Phonics Kids: Activity Book 3
In this book children practice the most basic and regular sounds of the short vowels, "a, e, i, o, u." Combined with the 21 consonants, children can start to play with real English words. They will learn to blend the sounds of the most common spelling pattern CVC (consonant-short vowel-consonant) words.
Phonics Kids: Activity Book 4
Activity Book 4 provides the next step after the sound associations for the constant letters have been learned. Emphasis is placed on the importance of learning the many vowel sounds in order to decode/encode unknown words.
Phonics Kids: Activity Book 5
Activity Book 5 extends children's knowledge of word families after they have learned the sounds of 48 short vowel word families. There are over 50 activities to help them learn the long vowel pairs and consonant digraphs in words.
Phonics Kids: Activity Book 6
Activity Book 6 consists of three major parts: (1) The Long Vowels, (2) Special Vowel Pairs, and (3) the R-Controlled Vowels. Upon completion of this book, children will have been introduced to a total of 46 sets of vowels in word families, and will be able to recognize and use more than 550 words.
